Hartwell, Charles O. “Chuck”, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012. He was born March 12, 1922 in Amsterdam, MO. He grew up in Drexel, MO and attended high school in Paola, KS. Later he attended Missouri University until WWII interrupted his college life. After the war he graduated from MU and worked for the Missouri Department of Health. He decided to be a pharmacist and attended Kansas City University (Now UMKC) where he met his wife, Marty in Pharmacy School. In 1952 they moved to Wichita and worked for Zongker Drug. Chuck was a Pharmacist until he retired at the age of 72. He was active in the Optimist Club of North Wichita for many years. He loved gardening and volunteered at Botanica for over 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Marty; son, Dr. Rick (Dr. Kim) Hartwell; daughter, Lynn (Mark) Prebble; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Woodland United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Botanica, The Wichita Gardens, 701 N. Amidon, Wichita, KS 67203 and Woodland United Methodist Church, 1100 W. 15th, Wichita, KS 67203.
