Terri Cochran Phifer

A s the great granddaughter of the founder, Terri Cochran Phifer, like the previous generation, began working at the mortuary when she was 16, typing records, answering phones and transcribing funeral services. She continued to work at the mortuary while attending college and starting a family.


After some time away, Terri returned to the family business in 1986 fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming a funeral director. She continually draws on her early experiences in her caring approach to families in need.


In addition to being Secretary/Treasurer of Cochran Mortuary, Terri has also served on the Board of Directors of Higher Ground; helps raise funds for organizations like, the Historic Orpheum Theater and Catholic Charities. Through the Wichita Junior League, she helped start the Kansas Foodbank Warehouse and catalogue the artifacts of the Old Cowtown Museum. She even finds time to volunteer at her church St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. In her spare time Terri enjoys gardening, reading, needlepoint, cooking, playing with her grandchildren and her Sheltie Collie, Shiner.
